Maria Bodil is an Amsterdam based creative direction duo working at the intersection of photography, film & design.
Through their close collaboration, Lieve Maria Eek and Marthe Bodil Vos have developed a unique creative vision. Their work is defined by simplicity and abstraction, crafting surreal scenes that feel both intimate and alienated.
The duo draws inspiration from various art and design disciplines, mixing traditional photo and film techniques with new forms of digital media. This results in profound yet simple visual narratives that challenge the viewer's perception of reality while resonating deeply.

For some time now, Bisou had been looking to add photography to its roster, a medium that felt missing from the collection, yet needed to truly align with the visual language and energy of the gallery. As always, we looked for boldness, graphic strength, a strong sense of colour, and a certain attitude.
We’re incredibly proud to now introduce the work of Maria Bodil to the Bisou collection. Their practice feels like a natural fit, fashionable, visually striking, and rich in colour. There’s a layered, sensual quality in their work and their use of post-production often blurs the line between what’s real and what’s imagined. This playful ambiguity adds a quiet sense of mystery to each image.
The first series to be included in the Bisou collection is Mazarine, a trio of portraits created in 2022. With rich colour tones and soft lighting, these works feel intimate yet anonymous, inviting the viewer into a dreamlike world of quiet elegance. A world we’re excited to explore further.
