April - May 2023

We’re proud to present the first solo exhibition of Faan Olgers at Bisou Gallery, featuring a curated selection of his most recent works on paper alongside a number of his earlier wooden sculptures.

Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and a glass of wine as we celebrate the remarkable and multifaceted work of Faan Olgers. The artist will be present, and we both look forward to welcoming you.

Faan Olgers (b. 1947) studied Vrije Grafiek at the Kunstnijverheidsschool in Amsterdam (now the Gerrit Rietveld Academie). His practice is both playful and precise,  rooted in abstraction and built entirely from geometric forms. His work is instantly recognisable: symmetrical, layered, and always created according to his own set of rules.

Olgers refers to himself not as an artist, but as 'constructor'. Each work is the result of a carefully designed puzzle, a complex challenge he sets for himself and then solves, piece by piece. The process is where the magic lies. As Olgers says, “Life itself is extraordinarily complex” and his work embraces that complexity with clarity, craft, and conviction.
